The Practice
Lighthouse Veterinary HouseCalls - serving Friday Harbor, San Juan Island - is a mobile veterinary practice for your family pets. I provide veterinary house call service for most of the medical care your pets will require. In my vehicle I carry the essentials of a clinic’s exam and treatment room - including basic, but invaluable tools such as a stethoscope and ophthalmoscope (for eye examination) and more specialized tools such as a microscope and mobile lab equipment. These tools allow me to diagnose and treat common to complex pet health issues.
With a one-on-one approach, the main focus is on the health needs of your pets in their own familiar environment. I feel this approach helps foster a close relationship between vet, client and pet. I know how important your pets are to you and how complicated medical issues can become. Because of this I emphasize communication, compassion and focus in my veterinary care.
Lighthouse is owned and operated by Dr. Tess Leonard. I opened my practice in May of 2003 and have since enjoyed working on many interesting cases and making many new friends. My goal is to provide thorough, personalized care for your pets through all of their life stages.
Practice News: In June, 2009 I purchased a building in Friday Harbor - the old 'Flying Burrito' restaurant - and I am looking forward to basing my house call practice there (rather than from my home!). I will continue to emphasize house call visits, but I am very excited that I will be able to offer clinic and surgery days as well. Thank you all so much for your encouragement and support.
