Services
Lighthouse Veterinary HouseCalls is equipped to diagnose and treat complex to common health issues at your home. Arrangements for surgery or radiology can be made if needed.
Sick Pet Exam and Treatment
The most important actions a veterinarian can take for your pet are to make a thorough examination and take a complete history. In most cases, examination and history alone lead to a successful treatment plan.
Laboratory Tests
In some cases, tests may be necessary to pinpoint or clarify problems. Common tests I perform include blood tests, urinalysis, mass (tumor) cytology, and skin scrapings.
Eyes, Ears and Skin
Eyes, ears and skin are common sites of illness and injury. Ophthalmic (eye) exam, corneal stain, tear test, otoscopic (ear) exam, or ear & skin cytology can be used to determine the type of treatment required.
Minor Injuries
Injuries such as strains, sprains, minor cuts, and wounds can be treated at home.
Preventative Medicine
Annual and Bi-annual Wellness Exams can detect problems early and perhaps before they become serious. Other preventative measures include vaccinations, blood tests, dental hygiene, prescription diets, deworming, and flea and tick control.
Aging or Chronic Illness
To keep your pet active as he or she ages, new treatments, specific diets and medications have been developed to address age related physical and behavioral changes.
Veterinary care can, for example, help your older pet be more playful, more easily climb stairs or be more alert. For the chronically ill pet, I will work with you and your family to develop a care plan and to closely monitor health needs. Common issues include thyroid and kidney disease or obesity.
